It's water.

How many waters? There are exactly 100 waters in this water asset pack.

But what IS water?

From the wiki:

Water is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula H2O. It is a transparent, tasteless, odorless and nearly colorless chemical substance. It is the main constituent of Earth's hydrosphere. It is vital for all known forms of life, despite not providing food energy or organic micronutrients. Its chemical formula, H2O, indicates that each of its molecules contains one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms, connected by covalent bonds.

So there you have it. Water. H2O. Dihydrogen monoxide.

Other known facts about water:

- Water is wet. You probably already know that though.

- If you draw a strip of animated pixel art water, each tile in a 16x16 pixel sized scale, and use 16 frames to animate it, you end up with just one animated strip of water. Like one of the 100 animations in this sprite pack.

- When it freezes and becomes a solid named "ice", its density becomes slightly less than its liquid form, making ice float.

- If you stand on the solid form of water, called "ice", the pressure of your weight is just enough to bring a tiny layer of ice back into its liquid form, which is why ice is so slippery when you stand on it. In a way, iceskating can be considered a microscopic form of surfing, a sport that is usually performed in a warmer climate. But that may be overthinking it. More important for this asset pack though, is that this principle does not work on this pixel art version of water. Unless you print it out and stand on the paper, thus compressing the paper fibres. Although it won't be slippery like ice. I do not recommend that though, since printer ink is expensive and we all now printer ink is a scam, but that's a discussion for another time.

- Many moons in the solar system contain water. Some, like Jupiter's moon Europa, might even contain life in its sub-surface ocean. Water is abundant in the universe, so Earth is possibly not the only place in the universe with life. In fact, Earth is probably not the only place from where you can access this asset pack, since the dawn of the sattelite internet era has now caused sattelites in Earth's orbit to emit the information of this web page out into outer space through electromagnetic radiation. Wait is it 2 T's and one S or one T and two S'es? Let me look that up. Ok so it's "satellite", and not "sattelite", my bad. Anyway, can you imagine one day an alien stumbling upon this very web page's information and discovering our planet has a reasonable chance of actually containing intelligent life? That's so cool.

- Remember the sprite strip I mentioned above? If you animate its frames left to right it appears that the pixel art water flows up, and if you animate its frames right to left it appears to flow down. Usually water flows down in a gravitational field, unless an upward pressure makes it flow up (like in industrial pumps, or for example in cryovolcanoes found on Enceladus, an icy moon of the planet Saturn). Another example of what causes water to flow up is the capillary effect.

- Did you know there is a dwarf planet between Mars and Jupiter that also appears to have cryovolcanoes? It's called Ceres. Discovered in 1801, it was first believed to be an extremely large asteroid. It took untill the year 2006 untill Ceres was reclassified as a dwarf planet. But that's beside the point.

- I mentioned above water is also called by its chemical name: Dihydrogen monoxide. It's how molecules are called in the field of chemistry. "Di" means "two", and "mono" means "one". Since there are 2 hydrogens in a water molecule (di-) and only one oxygen (mono-), The full name logically becomes dihydrogen monoxide.

- If there were 2 oxygens instead of 1, It would become H2O2, which would be hydrogen peroxide, a powerful bleaching agent and oxidizer. H2O2 should not be touched without proper gloves, and is very dangerous to human tissue. But that's beside the point, because this itch store page is about water (with just one oxygen atom in the H2O molecule and not two).

- Water is considered to be uncompressable, but that's actually not true. You just need a ridiculous amount of pressure. The water at the bottom of the ocean is slightly more dense than the water at the beach where you like to drink that sweet mojito cocktail (which unlike regular water actually does have taste: it's very sweet, minty, and with a lot of lime, sometimes served with a little paper umbrella to make the drink look super fancy).

- Game Maker Studio is an excellent engine for making 2D games. But what does that have to do with water? Well, a Game Maker Studio 2 project is provided here as well, in which each of these water tile strip animations is already preset for you! No need to worry about setting up the animations yourself. Unless you are using the project on a laptop outside in the rain, in which case you absolutely should worry because when water falls from the atmosphere to the Earth's surface (which we call "rain"), it will do permanent damage to your laptop. Laptops are better kept dry (the opposite of "wet").

- The reason water can damage your laptop is because water, when impure, conducts electricity, which can cause short circuits to electronic devices, thus destroying them. If water was completely pure though, it would actually be an insulator and not efficient at conducting electricity. Usually water contains ions and impurities though, so keep it away from electrical equipment at all costs.

- You can swim in water, but only if you know how to swim. Trying to swim in water without proper knowledge of what swimming is, is not adviced. Some animals are able to swim purely by instinct. This is obviously true for fish, an animal often related to water, but it applies to certain types of dogs as well.  If you want to learn how to swim, start out by visiting your local swimming pool and see if they provide lessons. It's probably the best way to go about it, since there will be a lifeguard in case something goes wrong.

- No fact about water is as interesting as this one though, but it's best to let this well made youtube video explain it: The unsolved mystery of the quantum mechanical dipole moment in the H-O bond of the water molecule.
